The regular visit of the master´s students of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava at the VR-1 test reactor between 19th and 21st April 2021 was this year kind of unusual. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the experimental exercises focusing on nuclear kinetics and dynamics were performed remotely using the CESNET e-infrastructure, enabling remote access and data transfer among participants. During this intensive three-day course, three students of the Nuclear Engineering study programme managed to get familiar with the VR-1 reactor and performed five exercises, including criticality experiment, reactivity measurement methods, reactor kinetics, safe reactor operation and neutron detection methods. The first ever on-line course performed at the VR-1 training reactor for Slovak students was successful. The students as well as the lecturers from Slovakia appreciate the gratitude and the professionalism of the CTU staff. The training was done in a very interactive way and the presented online platform showed a good potential for remote reactor exercises in the conditions of COVID-19 pandemic.
